Robert Cadotte was born in Montreal in 1945. He studied at the School of Art & Design in Montreal and has a background in furniture restoration and sculpture. Robert Cadotte has exhibited across Canada and has had solo shows at Museum London and at the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant. His work is included in private and public collections, including the Canada Council Art Bank, Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, London Life Company, Museum London and the Royal Bank of Canada.

Robert Cadotte’s most recent paintings possess expressive brushwork, high colour contrast, and a surreal quality of light. His worked and re-worked surfaces have a blurred, almost nostalgic feel that evokes the memory rather than the actuality of his subject matter. The fantastic quality of these works is enhanced by odd angles of approach – as if the viewer is seeing the image from the air, or in some instances, coming upon the setting from below.  Cadotte states, “I look at my work as energized abstraction that alludes to landscape but does not attempt to imitate it.”
