Gene Chu

Printmaker working in lithography. Studied at the Ontario College of Art, Toronto, 1960. Between 1962 and 1965 he undertook independent study at the Art Students League of New York. After completing his M.F.A. at the Claremont Graduate School, California in 1968 he began working at the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, where he stayed until his retirement in 1995. In 1997 the University of Guelph’s print collection was named in honour of him and fellow professor Walter Bachinski. The Bachinski/Chu Print Collection was initiated in 1968 as a teaching resource, funded mainly by proceeds of student print sales it now contains over 250 works in traditional print media. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally and he was elected to the Ontario Society of Artists in 1976.
