Bernard Mulaire

Bernard Mulaire completed his doctoral studies in art history at Université Laval, in Sainte-Foy (Quebec). He holds a master's degree in arts studies (art history) from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), a master's and a bachelor's degree in visual arts (Temple University of Philadelphia and University of Manitoba, respectively), as well as the Bachelor of Arts in the classical course offered by the Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface, in Manitoba.

Art Historian

Bernard Mulaire collaborated on the dictionary Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon, Bildenden Künstler aller Zeitenund Völker published in Munich/Leipzig, Germany, on the book Art québécois et canadien (volume I of the catalog of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts), on the catalog of the Louis-Philippe Hébert exhibition at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, in the Biographical Dictionary of Canada , as well as in David Karel's Dictionary of French-Language Artists in North America . His research gave rise to monographs published by Éditions Fides de Montréal ( Olindo Gratton (1855-1941): Religion and sculpture ); at Éditions du Blé ( Caricatures ;Dog ; Collection “Mirror” ) and Éditions Ink Inc. ( Tracing a space in visual arts ) of Saint-Boniface, Manitoba.

Artist

Artist, Bernard Mulaire exhibited solo at the Heritage Center of Saint-Boniface in Manitoba; at Gallery Moos in Toronto; at the University of Manitoba's Gallery One One One and at the Fleet Gallery in Winnipeg. The Glenbow Art Institute and Museum organized a traveling exhibition of his works in Alberta. He has participated in several group exhibitions presented in Toronto (Harbourfront; Factory 77), Guelph (McLaughlin Library at the University of Guelph), Montreal (Centre Saidye-Bronfman; Galerie Godard-Lefort) and Winnipeg (Thomas Gallery; Winnipeg). Art Gallery; Print Studio; Center culturel de Saint-Boniface).

His works have been acquired by the following institutions: Canada Council Art Bank; Winnipeg Art Gallery; University of Manitoba School of Art Gallery; Franco-Manitoban Cultural Center; Glenbow Museum (Calgary) and Nickle Galleries at the University of Calgary. In Ontario, there are: Art Gallery of Peel in Brampton; Art Gallery of Windsor; Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant in Brantford; Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery; McIntosh Gallery at the University of Western Ontario in London; Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa; Rothman's of Pall Mall Canada in Toronto and Station Gallery in Whitby. In Quebec: the Laurier Museum in Victoriaville. The National Library of Canada and the National Library of Quebec each have a portfolio of prints from the Moos Gallery in which he participated.

The Center du Patrimoine, managed by the Société historique de Saint-Boniface au Manitoba , preserves Bernard Mulaire's workshop fund. In December 2010 - January 2011, the SHSB, in collaboration with the Center culturel franco-manitobain, presented the Art mulaire exhibition featuring works from its collection.

In 2016, the Canadian Museum of History acquired models it made for Children's Playgrounds in Markham, Ontario ( read more ). The same year, the Éditons du Blé (Winnipeg) published his Caricatures collection , which in 2017 won the Manitoba Day prize awarded by the Association for Manitoba Archives / Association manitobaine des archives.
