John Reeves

John Reeves (born in 1938, Burlington ON) is a revered photographer, writer and broadcaster. He attended the Sir George Williams Art School (Montreal QC) and OCAD University (Toronto ON). His work has appeared in every major Canadian magazine including Canadian Art, Maclean’s, Chatelaine, Toronto Life, Saturday Night, Canadian Forum, Financial Post, Books in Canada, Quill and Quire, Descant, and Exile. Much of Reeves’ magazine photography involves iconic personalities, including Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Marshall McLuhan, Morley Callaghan, Mordecai Richler, Margaret Atwood, Umberto Eco, Mavis Gallant, Seamus Heaney, Francesco Rosi, Lina Wertmüller, Yehudi Menuhin, YoYo Ma, Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie, Tony Bennett, Maureen Forrester, John Kenneth Gailbraith and John Polanyi. Reeves served as special consultant to the National Film Board of Canada in the production of the book Between Friends–Entre Amis. He has had solo exhibitions across Canada and Europe, and received the “Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators Award” for Lifetime Achievement.
