Jean Claude Whale

John Claude Whale is an artist and the second son of Robert Reginald Whale. He was born during his parents’ voyage to Canada in 1852. Like his father, he was a self-taught artist and specialized in portraits and landscapes. As a young man, John Claude spent several years in Montreal, Ottawa, St. Catharines, and other towns in Southern Ontario. Later, he conducted sketching classes in New Hampshire and Vermont. John Claude’s final years were spent in Brantford, Ontario where he died in 1905.
