A limited number of bus subsidies are available (up to $100/school towards bussing) while they last. Have a student or two who can’t afford to participate in Art Reach with their class? We also have limited scholarships available.

Fall-en Leaves Collage
(All ages - lesson adjusted accordingly)
Skills and Learning: Block printing process, collage
Let’s collaborate to create dynamic arrangements of leaves! We will layer prints and drawings using various materials.
Printed Holiday Cards
(All ages - lesson adjusted accordingly)
Skills and learning: Exploring different printing methods.
Let’s experiment with different printmaking processes to create a unique set of hand printed monoprint holiday cards! Each student will make 3 cards.

Spooky Night Painting
(Recommended for ages 7+)
Skills and Learning: Composition development, & movement
Let’s examine Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” painting to learn about Post-Impressionism, colour theory, mark making and how to create the illusion of dimensional space in our image. We will use a combination of oil pastels and paint!
The Canadian Landscape
(Recommended for ages 7+)
Skills and learning: Perspective, movement, colour theory
In this lesson we will look at various landscape paintings by Canadian artists including members of the Group of Seven, Tom Thompson and Emily Carr. We will learn how to build a convincing realistic landscape composition, highlighting various tips and tricks we as artists can use to enhance our image to make it look like a deeper and more convincing representation of the environment around us.
Tim Burton Inspired Self Portraits
(Recommended for ages 7+)
Skills and learning: Portraiture, colour theory
Let’s step into the world of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” with this fun lesson on portraiture! We will draw and paint a fun self portrait in his signature drawing style and paint using a monochromatic palette.

Clay! Holiday Character Handprint (ages 4-7)
Skills & Learning: Clay hand building & assembling.
The perfect keepsake gift from your Kindergarten students! Our handprint becomes the shape of our holiday character. Ornament or dish. Clay pieces can be painted once dry.
Clay! Pumpkin Pot (all ages - lesson adjusted accordingly)
Skills & Learning: Clay hand building & assembling.
Let’s practice pinching, rolling and making coils with clay to build unique and sculptural pumpkin bowls! Clay pieces can be painted once dry.
Clay! Forest Friends Animal Bowl (all ages - lessons adjusted accordingly)
Let’s learn to build a pinch pot which we will then transform into an animal head by attaching ears and carving facial features and textures. Bears, foxes or wherever your imagination takes you through the forest! Clay pieces can be painted once dry.
Clay! Themed Bowl (All ages - lesson adjusted accordingly)
Skills & Learning: Clay hand building & assembling.
Let’s practice pinching, rolling and making coils with clay to create a one-of-a-kind sculptural pinch pot! When booking please indicate the theme (fall/holiday/winter) that you would like to focus on. These clay dishes make a perfect gift for a loved one for Thanksgiving or Christmas! Clay pieces can be painted once dry.
Clay! Coil Holiday or Woodland Tree (All ages - lesson adjusted accordingly)
Skills & Learning: Clay hand building & assembling.
Let’s kick off the winter season by building a whimsical tree sculpture using a variety of hand building class techniques (decorated with ornaments or snow and birds). Clay pieces can be painted once dry.

Tours
Glenhyrst features 6 contemporary art exhibitions per year, so there is always something new to look at and learn about. Guided tours of exhibits can be booked independently or in conjunction with a Workshop. The cost for a 45 minute tour is $4 per child ($80 min) and done together with a workshop is $8 per child ($100 min). Scroll down and click below to request a booking.

Workshops
Join us for a workshop at Glenhyrst in our Coach House Studio! Each educational, guided workshop includes all materials and is curriculum based. New workshops are released each September and January. Cost for a Workshop only is $6 per child ($100 min) and done together with a tour is $8 per child for both ($100 min). Click below to request a booking.
ArtReach
Our ArtReach program brings our arts education workshop to you! Glenhyrst provides all of the materials and instruction and comes to your school ready for a fun and educational experience for all. All workshop options are available at the school and more robust art history curriculum is provided. ArtReach can accommodate a balanced day schedule and can be booked with multiple classes. Cost for a 1.5 hour workshop at the school is $10 per child ($100 min). Additional mileage costs do apply for out of town schools as well as a minimum of 2 classes - check to see if any other teachers at your school are interested! Click below to book.
